News from the Grossmont Healthcare District

The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) board of directors has unanimously approved a $65,000 grant to ElderHelp of San Diego, a non-profit organization that offers social services that help frail, homebound seniors live independently in their own homes.

The GHD board said the funds will help assist roughly 1,500 East County seniors annually with information and referral services, including current and accurate information on available community resources, and care management services to address both short-term problems and long-term needs, including psychosocial assessments by trained social workers.

The Grossmont Healthcare District, a public agency in San Diego's East County region, supports various health-related community programs and services in San Diego's East County region and serves as landlord of Grossmont Hospital on behalf of local taxpayers. The District, formed in 1952, is governed by a five-member board of directors, each elected to four-year terms, who represent nearly 500,000 people residing within the District's 750 square miles in San Diego's East County.
