GHD presents 2012 scholarships to high school healthcare scholars
The Grossmont
Healthcare District (GHD), a public agency that supports various health-related
community programs and services in San Diego’s East County region, recently
presented $81,000 in scholarships to 36 high school students who are interested
in a healthcare professions career.
The students from 18 different high schools in the East County were selected by
school administrators for their academic excellence, outstanding citizenship and
a desire to improve our world in the healthcare field, according to GHD 2012
board president Debbie McElravy. Two students from each high school received a
GHD scholarship of either $3,000 or $1,500. The students included (name of the

Jaqueline Garcia, Catherine Shaba, El Cajon Valley; Megan Ellis, Jared McCarthy,
El Capitan; Victoria Pool, Heather Howell, Granite Hills; Leanne Gottwig,
Adeyinka Bello, Grossmont; Diane Luu, Julia Trubovitz, Grossmont Middle College;
Jessica Relucio, Khori Darling, Helix Charter; Redal Khummi, Matthew Cherwa,
Liberty Charter; Carly Boyd, Marck Masicap, Monte Vista; Maria Guillen, Claudia
McCallum, Mount Miguel; Lexus Cosmano, Hannah Foster, Mountain Empire; Alexia
Rubio, Mi La, Patrick Henry; Hannah Fletcher, Kalli Jones, River Valley Charter;
Joseph Robley, Luis Marroquin, Santana; Caleb Henderson, Julie Chihwaro, Steel
Canyon Charter; Ileana Matta, Joseph Maroge, Valhalla; Karen Quezada, Masara
Issa, West Hills.
Since 1999, GHD has awarded $706,000 scholarships to hundreds of local high
school students interested in a healthcare career.
